Various Useful Shell Commands

• find $PWD - lists all files from present working directory on down with their full path
• pdftk ./big-book.pdf burst output big-book-page-%03d.pdf verbose - splits a pdf into individual pages
• sips -s format jpeg ./big-book-page-001.pdf --out big-book-page-001.jpg - converts a pdf into a jpg
• sox -V3 input.wav output.wav silence 1 3.0 0.1% 1 0.3 0.1% : newfile : restart - split audio at silence
• lame --verbose -c -b 192 --tt "title" --ta "artist" --tl "album" --ty "year" --tc "comment" --tn "t#/total" "input.wav" "output.mp3" - compress an mp3 file to 192kbps using lame
• ffmpeg -ss 00:00:00 -t 01:40:00 -i input.mp4 -vcodec copy -acodec copy output.mp4 - split video at (ss) start-time for (t) duration
• ffmpeg -i input.mov -b 1500k -vcodec mpeg4 -g 30 -strict -2 output.mp4 - Quicktime to mp4
• ffmpeg -f avfoundation -framerate 8 -i "0" -target pal-vcd ./recording.mpeg - record from webcam
• ffmpeg -i background.movie -i overlay.movie -filter_complex "[1] scale=480:270 [over]; [0][over] overlay=1440:810" out.mpg - Video-in-Video
• ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i movies.txt -c copy big_file.mp4concatenates videos where "movies.txt" is a list in to form: file /full/path/of/file/with/name
• ffmpeg -i channel1.wav -i channel2.wav channel3.wav -filter_complex "[0:a][1:a][2:a]amerge=inputs=3[aout]" -map "[aout]" output.wav - create a 3 channel audio file from 3 mono audio files.
• diskutil zeroDisk /dev/disk# - Manually erases a thumbdrive
• diskutil eraseDisk ExFAT <drive name> /dev/disk# - Manually erase thumbdrive (ExFAT should be the type)
• system_profiler SPUSBDataType - get a list of available serial ports on the Mac
• ADB:
